We all have them and friends are defined this way but you may not use all the words or in that order. Some friends are there when the rent is late, when you mom dies, when the world is on your shoulders, or just so you can have someone to laugh with. He/She is the one you can play phone tag with for a few weeks or not talk for a couple of months and you pick back up right where you left off as if you just saw them yesterThat is the friend you hold with personal regard.
Then there is the friend you try to talk out of doing something stupid even though they are their own person, you still want to try to save them, because you love them and don't want to see them hurt. Or you have that friend that you end up taking on their beef or their dislikes of another person because you don't like how that person did them. Example, I don't like Sally because she fucked my (ex) boyfriend and she and I got into it about that. Well my friend no longer likes Sally because she is not "feeling" the tension/stress I am feeling when I am around, near, or if someone speaks of Sally. That is the friend you have affection for (pause-no homo).
Then there is that friend that you aren't even really sure y'all are friends. They are only your friend when they/you want to hang out. They are an ornament in your life, just hanging there for the season. Whether it be a Xmas wreath, a Hanukkah bush, a hanging cupid, or hidden Easter eggs...they are never there for anything more than the trivial or frivolous things in your life. That is your attachment friend or as I call them, "that bitch".
